The tour combines boat-based photography and onshore sessions to provide diverse perspectives. Here's a breakdown:

  • Morning Shoots: We visit a rookery easily accessible by land, ideal for capturing early light and bird activity.

  • Afternoon Shoots: Another land-accessible rookery offers perfect conditions for late-day photography.

  • Flexible Options: Depending on the weather and lighting, we visit a third rookery and the Atchafalaya Basin in the morning or afternoon to photograph osprey.

Expert Boat Operators and Guides

The experts at “The Atchafalaya Experience” who have many decades experience leading photo tours in the swamps of Louisiana are our guides for the tours. They utilitze double hulled aluminum skiffs which are designed for the demanding swamp we visit. Tour Duration

The experience begins at 3 p.m. on the first day and concludes after the final photo session on the fourth day, offering three full days of immersive bird photography.
